Psalm 36 begins with a stark contrast between the wicked and the righteous, emphasizing the wicked's rejection of God and their deceitful ways. In contrast, the psalmist extols God's steadfast love, faithfulness, righteousness, and justice. The psalm describes God's role as a source of life and light, contrasting with the darkness of human sin. It acknowledges human dependence on God's abundant provision and protection, likening it to the refreshing streams of life-giving water. The psalmist prays for God's continued favor and asks for deliverance from the arrogance of the wicked. It concludes with a plea for God's light to shine upon those who know and seek Him, while the wicked are brought to ruin. Overall, Psalm 36 paints a vivid picture of the contrast between the wicked who reject God and the righteous who find refuge and abundance in His presence. Join us during this season of worship at Homewood CPC as we explore the depths of these Psalms and how they help us communicate and understand our lives as a family of faith!

Prayers for the People
Let us pray: Mighty God, we give you thanks for hearing our prayers each day. As you have caused us all to be in relationship with one another, the purpose of our relationships are to help us navigate life together. Many times we forget how we are to pray for each other, so forgive us and make us mindful of how we can bear each other’s burdens. Father God, touch, heal, and bless Anne Baguley, Linda Bailey, Rubye Bearden, Maud Belser, Tom Dameron, Max McLemore, Jean Patterson, Dianne Salmon, and Greta Vines. Hear our prayer on behalf of our brothers and sisters. Be glorified and give us strength to continue to serve you in Jesus’s name. Amen.
